Winter Synopsis
During the winter fishing period we primarily target Winter Chinook also known as Feeder Chinook, ranging in size from 4lbs to 30+lbs.
As well as the fishing, we focus in on the diversity of Clayoquot Sound. The natural surroundings are much different in winter. The birds and
sea life are also different during the winter months. I try to fish areas where wildlife observing is rich!
An interesting part of the winter trips is the crabbing. We target mainly Dungeness crabs. Crabbing is awesome during the winter, there are more
of them and the quality is best.
A nice idea is to have a crab and salmon feast after the trip…this adds to the feeling of being out on a boat in Clayoquot Sound during
the winter..It is a very westcoast and fulfilling feeling!
We offer shorter trips during the winter 4,5,6hrs, 8hrs if it’s nice!
Dress in layers, a thermos of coffee or tea is nice, hot chocolate for kids!
We have gloves, toques, blankets and Rain Gear at your disposal, not to mention the complete cover of the whaler.
